An Olympia for a momentous (and very sad) occasion

POST SCRIPT: Today was the day when Connor left for Washington. His flight was around 4PM or so, and I have yet to hear anything from him. I am sure he is catching up with his friend that he hasn't seen in a while, but it still hurts. The last thing I said to him after leaving a family dinner last night were 'Don't go dying in a plane crash', because I honestly didn't know what else I could say. I, again, apologize for how personal all of this got, but I didn't have anywhere else to turn.

  1. Ya gotta let the kids go find their own path, you know, and don't be hurt by it. At least you will have a chance at a new chapter with your best friend/brother via typewritten letters. As a pretty severe natural recluse myself, I learned late in life to keep myself open for new friendships among the least likely of people (complete strangers from the internet - typospherians, for example), and I've found that to be a very rewarding shift in my outlook. (:

  2. Thanks for sharing this, Ken. Letting your brother seek out his own bliss despite your understandable protectiveness and pain just goes to show how much you love him. The SM9 gift is touching, really touching. Hope it links you guys in a new way.

  4. Hey, I realized I echoed Ted's comment, just in a more "emo" way. ( :

  5. I'll just say that I can see why you'd be shocked and upset. May it work out for the best.

  6. Family stuff is tough. Let me know where he settles and I can try to answer questions about the area you may have. And good luck without the capcha, it's been ok on my blog without it so far.

  7. As a writer, I really like the honesty and truth of that post. That being said as I read it I was sad with you, that's a really tough thing to deal with. Thank you for sharing it with us. I hope things work out in the end. Perhaps after a while Connor will return. Maybe something else will happen and somehow it will all be a good thing. Wish you the best.

  8. Thanks to everyone for your kind words. I just hope it all works out for him in the end. He already has a return ticket for Christmas, and I am really just hoping he will stay.
I really appreciate you all taking the time. It means the world.

  9. My heart goes out to you during this time of adjustment of this separation from your close brother, Ken. Others have expressed very well what I intended to say.

In other news: THANKS for removing that $#$#@$*( Captcha! I struggle every time I try to leave comments on people's blogs that still have it. I just spent 10 minutes trying to leave a comment on one Typospherian's blog, the words and symbols and numbers were so jumbled up that it took about 8 times to get it right. WHEW! So tired of it, so I really appreciate you removing Captcha!
