I only had it set up for this purpose. Actually, the typewriter tables stay in the typewriter room. I use my secretary's desk for typing on usual occasions. This was ideal for taking notes, however, as it was such a pain to try and type with the typewriter on the computer desk.
One thing I like doing with typewriters, and my students enjoy it too, is write comments about their papers. I use a high-speed photocopier/scanner to make a copy of the comments for my computer files before I turn them in.
I would have to imagine the students love it. That would be quite a thing to see on your papers, and those unsuspecting are surely in for a treat the first time around.
Thanks! It will probably only be like this for the times I am taking notes during this course. But who knows, after 30 hours of it, I may just grow to like it enough to block entrance to the computer on one side. :)
I like the hi-tech/lo-tech mix. Right now, I have a similar setup as yours but typewriter on the left on a movable table.
