Looks like a nice place for writing. Cable spools are great for all kinds of things. I had a huge one for a table and a few smaller ones for seats when I lived in PA. Right now I have one on my screened patio for a stool.
It is definitely an awesome porch. Those spools have seen literally no use until I used them for writing. Aside from that, I have just been putting typewriters on them and taking pictures.
Who is to say this porch is not uneven? There is one spot where water pools up so much, you would think it was a bird bath! Damn concrete finishers from the 1940's...
